Так, при двух погибших в ДТП можно получить до пяти лет тюрьмы, если водитель был трезв, и на четыре года больше, если он был пьян.

При этом установить факт их пребывания в состоянии опьянения в момент ДТП уже невозможно, поэтому им грозят сроки, предусмотренные для трезвых водителей.

Одобренный депутатами законопроект предусматривает, что водители, скрывшиеся с места ДТП, будут по умолчанию нести такую же ответственность, как пьяные. Им будет грозить до четырех лет лишения свободы, если в аварии есть пострадавшие с тяжелыми травмами, до семи лет, если в ДТП погиб один человек, и до девяти лет, если авария привела к гибели двух и более человек. Одновременно был принят во втором чтении законопроект о внесении корреспондирующих изменений в статью 12.27 КоАП – ее новая редакция гласит, что водителю, покинувшему место аварии, в которой никто не погиб и не пострадал, грозит административный арест до 15 суток или лишение прав.

По данным судебного департамента Верховного суда, в первом полугодии 2018 года за совершение ДТП с тяжелоранеными были осуждены 2,7 тыс. человек.
